Chelsea make move for £38m striker

The Independent are reporting that Chelsea are lining up a £38m bid for FC Porto striker Hulk.

The Brazilian has scored 39 goals for Porto over the last two seasons and the Blues appear to see him as the ideal replacement for the retiring Didier Drogba.

Should Hulk become a Chelsea player, he looks set to join Eden Hazard who took to his Twitter page to say that he would be heading to Stamford Bridge.

The combined transfer fee would be substantial should both Hulk and Hazard join Chelsea and this highlights their determination to build on Champions League success.

The man who led them to the Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich, Roberto Di Matteo, is still not assured to be in charge next year though.

Instead, there has been much speculation about who Roman Abramovich will appoint to take the team forward next season.

Despite the stories developing on Hazard and Hulk though, Chelsea have remained cautious with their statement on potential transfers.

The club told BBC Sport: “As with all transfers, when we have something to announce, we will announce it in the usual way.”

A summer of transfer rumours and speculation awaits for Chelsea and all other Premier League clubs.
