Chelsea open talks for Bakayoko

France Football has learned that Premier League leaders Chelsea are stepping up their efforts to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

It is no secret that the Blues, like so many other clubs, are keen on the 22-year-old footballer, who is almost certain to leave the Principality club for greener pastures at the end of the season even though his employers want around €60 million for his services.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is keen on pairing Bakayoko with N’Golo Kante in the middle of the park and the club officials have already established initial contact with the Ligue 1 leaders.

The holding midfielder has been in excellent form this season, helping Monaco climb to the league summit while he also scored the goal that saw the team progress to the Champions League last 8.

Chances are that the Principality club will not be able to prevent their prized possession from leaving in the summer, but they are set to earn a good profit having paid mere €8 million for his services two and a half years ago.
