Chelsea owner ready to spend big on Falcao

The Sun are today reporting that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has given the green light for Roberto Di Matteo to splash the cash on Radamel Falcao in the January transfer window.

Chelsea were linked with a move for Falcao in the summer window, but were not able to secure his services. However, they are now ready to make a sensational £45 million bid to bring the prolific striker to Stamford Bridge.

The Atletico Madrid front-man has become one of the highest-rated strikers in Europe over the last year or so and after he scored two goals in the Europa League final, showed that he can do it on the biggest stage.

The Colombian international also bagged a hat-trick against Chelsea in the Super Cup – which showed the English Premier League side just what he is capable of.

However, Falcao does seem to be enjoying life in La Liga and as he only joined last year, may feel as though he still has unfinished business in the Spanish capital.

If the European Champions do come knocking with a big bid though, it will be tough for Atletico to turn them down.

It is certainly a fascinating story to keep an eye on.

This story seems to be doing the rounds between media organizations only as Madrid has consistently stated that the player will not be sold. Therefore nothing to keep an eye or for that matter any part of the human anatomy on. Chelsea could have bought him for £32 from Porto but did not pull the trigger allowing Madrid to swoop. Hot as he is and with the money issues they have, why would Madrid countenance discussing a price that is not at least twice what they paid?
