Spanish radio program Onda Cero claims that Chelsea have tabled a bid for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas.
Aspas, 25, has developed into one of the best strikers in Spanish top flight, with top European clubs now lining up for his signature.
Onda Ceero has suggested that Chelsea are prepared to match the player’s €10 million release clause, as well as offer the striker a lucrative contract.
Celta would obviously have no saying in the deal if the Blues activate the release clause, but they are hoping Aspas would agree to remain at Balaidos at least until the summer.
The Galician club are heavily involved in the relegation tussle and losing their star player would certainly be a huge blow to their survival chances.
After netting 23 goals in 35 Segunda Division matches last term, Aspas has proved his worth in La Liga as well, netting 8 times in 19 appearances.
