Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant has revealed that the club tried to sign Fernando Torres from Liverpool.
Grant tried to prise the Spaniard away from Anfield during his short time as boss at the club when he succeeded Jose Mourinho in September 2007.
â€ÂFernando Torres and Steven Gerrard work brilliantly together and even when Torres is not at his best he can still produce a great goal out of nothing,†said Grant in the Daily Mail.
â€ÂHe’s one of the best strikers I have ever seen and I tried very hard to get him to Chelsea.â€Â
