Chelsea want Nikola Kalinic

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is hot on the trail of Fiorentina hotshot Nikola Kalinic.

The Portuguese manager is desperate to recruit a striker who would challenge Diego Costa for a starting berth and he has been impressed with the Croatian centre forward.

But, with Kalinic under contract with Fiorentina until June 2018, it will not be easy to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year-old has been in excellent form ever since he joined Viola from Dnipro in the summer, bagging 9 goals in just 8 Serie A starts.

Everybody at the club has been in awe of his latest form, and Fiorentina officials believe Kalinic can help them mount a serious title challenge this season.

Nikola Kalinic arrived at Artemio Franchi as a low-profile signing having not always been the first choice at Dnipro, but he went on to prove his worth in one of Europe’s toughest leagues to play in.
