The Sun reports that Frank Lampard is set to open fresh talks with Chelsea over a new deal at Stamford Bridge, once he returns from Englands upcoming friendly internationals.
The star midfielder’s future had been thrown into choas after media speculation strongly linked the England international with a move to Inter Milan.
Chelsea were left stunned by rumours that Lampard was set to join Serie A champions Inter Milan after the UEFA Champions League Final was over. Rumours suggested that the possible arrival of Jose Mourinho was the reason Lampard was supposedly set to arrive at the San Siro.
Lampard told the press: “My contract has obviously been the last thing on my mind in the last six weeks, but i will sit down with them (Chelsea) aftr the England games”. He added “I hope we can come to a conclusion. I am pretty confident we can, I have said that many times before”.
Lampard has played for Chelsea 247 times since joining for £11 million from West Ham, and is currently with Fabio Capello’s England side, who take on the USA at Wembley before travelling to Trinadad and Tobago.
