Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini could be sidelined for over a month after picking up a left knee injury at the weekend, news agency Ansa reported on Monday.
The 24-year-old Italian international will undergo tests on Monday to determine the seriousness of the injury.
“Forty days off may be necessary to recover,” estimated Juventus team doctor Riccardo Agricola.
Chiellini was one of the players called up by national coach Marcello Lippi for Wednesday’s friendly against Austria in Nice.
