Cicinho tries to explain own goal

A disappointed Roma defender Cicinho has tried to explain his own goal against Bologna on Sunday.

The Giallorossi looked set to grab an important win, following a poor start to the season, but Cicinho made it a 1-1 draw.

“I’m deeply sorry about what happened, but I’m calm because it was the only thing I could do,” Cicinho told Romanews.eu.

“To tell the truth, I just threw myself towards the ball trying to put it out for a corner.

‘I saw a shadow on my left and thought it would have been a big mistake to move out of the way.

“The Bologna striker was right there about to meet the ball and he would have easily put it in. Either way, people would have blamed me.

“I had to make a decision in a split second and it all went wrong. When luck is on your side, everything is easier because this certainly wouldn’t have happened last year.”
