Djibril Cisse is certain Queens Park Rangers will avoid relegation despite giving up the lead to draw 2-2 at Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Former Liverpool man Cisse scored just 12 minutes into his debut at Villa Park, the day after a four million-pound transfer from Serie A club Lazio.
QPR were 2-0 by half-time thanks to Stephen Warnock’s own-goal, but they conceded twice in the second half and were forced to settle for a point.
Nevertheless, Cisse has apparently already seen enough from his new team-mates at Loftus Road to be confident of plying his trade in England’s top flight next season.
“I have absolutely no doubt that we can stay in the Premier League,” Cisse told BBC Sport.
“I don’t want to hear that word (relegation).”
“We are a new team in the Premier League so it’s understandable that we make a few mistakes sometimes, but to get a point is a good performance.”
Cisse’s opener marked the third time he has scored on his debut for an English club, after notching in his inaugural match for both Liverpool and Sunderland.
“I’m really happy and really satisfied to score,” he said.
“The goal wasn’t easy because the angle was tight, but it’s the kind of goal I like to put in.”
QPR manager Mark Hughes was full of praise for the goal and his striker’s performance.
“We’re delighted that he has such an instant impact so early in his QPR career,” Hughes said.
“You saw his quality tonight in tight areas, where he was able to use his pace and power and that will be effective for us during the course of the season.”
QPR, 16th, travel to second-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday in a key relegation clash.
