Cisse set for Panathinaikos return

QPR striker Djibril Cisse could return to Panathinaikos in the January transfer window, L’Equipe has revealed.

After failing to prove his worth at Loftus Road, Cisse is no longer in the plans of manager Harry Redknapp and he will be allowed to leave the club in January.

His former club Panathinaikos are prepared to offer him an escape route from England, but, being in a very difficult financial situation, PAO can only sign him on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Even in that case, QPR will have to accept to pay a big portion of the player’s wages in order for the move to go through.

Djibril Cisse, 31, has a contract until June 2014 at Loftus Road, but is highly unlikely to see it through.

After netting 6 times in 8 Premier League games last term, the Frenchman has scored just 3 goals in 18 league appearances this season.
