Steve Clarke is delighted that Steven Reid has penned a new one-year deal at West Brom.
Reid, 32, agreed fresh terms on Tuesday to extend his stay at The Hawthorns, which began in March 2010, initially on loan from Blackburn Rovers.
The utility man, who can play in midfield and defence, has been primarily used at right-back in recent times, offering competition to Billy Jones.
Reid’s flexibility and experience makes him a valuable squad member and Clarke, who led West Brom to a ninth-placed finish last season, was pleased to keep him on board.
“I’m delighted Steven has committed himself to the club for another year,” Clarke told the club’s official website.
“He’s a good pro, has bags of Premier League experience and is a great character to have both within the squad and around the training ground.
“If he has better luck with injuries, Steven will have a big part to play here in the new season.”
Reid has made 70 appearances for West Brom in all competitions since arriving at the club.
