While all eyes will be on Donbass Arena when England face Ukraine, journalists from both countries met in a match of their own on Tuesday.
The English press were helped out by two former players as Stan Collymore and Chris Waddle lent their experience in Krakow.
Collymore scored his side’s first goal and said he enjoyed the event following the English reporters’ 6-1 loss to their French counterparts last week.
“Scored the first goal, we all played well and it’s nice to always win,” Collymore said.
“Maybe I shout a bit too much at the lads but we got a clean sheet and a victory, so happy days.”
Collymore played three times for England between 1995 and 1997 while Waddle amassed 62 international caps from 1985 to 1991.
England take on Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine in Donetsk on Tuesday.
Roy Hodgson’s side, second in Group D on four points, need only a draw from their last group match to secure a berth in the quarter-finals, while third-placed Ukraine must win to keep their tournament hopes alive.
