Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega is set to join Premier League side Wigan in a £4.5million move.
The deal will go ahead subject to a work permit.
Wigan boss Steve Bruce is keen to bring in Rodallega as Emile Heskey’s long-term replacement.
A Wigan source told the Sun: “It’s all agreed. The player will arrive on January 7.
“He fulfils the permit criteria and has only missed two games for Colombia through injury.
“Hugo is terrific and has all the attributes to be a success in England.â€Â
The 23-year-old is highly regarded in South America and it is believed he could make the move in the January transfer window.
