Conte ban reduced to four months

Juventus head coach Antonio Conte has seen his match ban reduced from 10 months to four.

Conte, who had originally been handed the long punishment for his part in the match-fixing scandal while in charge of Siena in the 2010-11 season, will now return to the touchline in December.

The 43-year-old former Italy international was specifically convicted of failing to report an alleged attempt to fix a match during his one-year tenure before he left for juve.

Conte has been able to help train his players this season but has been banned from any touchline activity and is unable to influence decisions during matches, which has instead been overseen by Massimo Carrera.

However, the coach’s lawyers – having failed at getting Conte acquitted – were able to convince the TNAS court that the ban should be reduced.

This means he will now be able to return to action for Juve’s clash with Palermo on December 9, one day after his ban expires and 16 match days into the 2012-13 campaign.
