Bayern Munich defender Diego Contento is in talks with Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen, according to his agent.
Werder have previously expressed an interest in the 23-year-old, although it had been thought that a switch to the Weserstadion was unlikely.
However, Contento’s agent Ludwig Kogl has revealed that his client is interested in joining Robin Dutt’s side after falling down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena.
The German left-back wants to play regularly after several years on the fringes at Bayern and Werder could present him with the ideal opportunity for first-team football.
“There is contact with Werder,” Kogl told Bild.
“Werder still have a decent team. For Diego, it is important he plays regular football.”
Contento made just eight appearances in all competitions for Bayern last season.
