Corinthians president Mario Gobbi Filho says his team are keen on signing AC Milan forward Alexandre Pato.
The Brazilian is reportedly unhappy at the San Siro and there have been rumours the 23-year-old threatened to quit the club in November.
Corinthians are said to be leading in the race to acquire Pato’s services, but Gobbi called for patience as the club tries to bring the forward back to his native country.
“It is like when you want to date a woman. You talk and find out where she lives. Then pick up the phone, chat with friends, see what she likes, find out if there is interest,” the president told Globo.
“Then invite her for dinner and hope that goes well. Suddenly, you need to invest in other dinners to succeed. Only then it turns into dating and you eventually take a bride home.
“There was talk and there is interest, but we are staying calm. I cannot speak for AC Milan and rumours like this mess with the fans’ feelings.”
