(GSM) – Corinthians are the sole leaders in the Brazilian Serie A following a 3-0 win over Gremio Prudente on Saturday. Cruzeiro and Botafogo held each other to a 2-2 draw.

In their home match with Gremio Prudente, Sao Paulo-based Corinthians took the lead through Iarley after 22 minutes. Jorge Henrique found the target shortly after the break and Elias made it 3-0 eight minutes before the end.

Corinthians are now three points ahead of Fluminense. The latter play away to Flamengo on Sunday but once that match ends, Corinthians will still have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Cruzeiro successfully defended their third place holding nearest competitors Botafogo to a 2-2 draw.

Alessandro put Botafogo in the lead after just five minutes but Walter Montillo turned things around with a penalty goal in the 58th, before scoring again in the 71st.

Uruguayan Sebastian Abreu then converted a spot kick in the 75th minute for a 2-2 final result.
