Former Lecce boss Serse Cosmi has been appointed as head coach of Serie A side Siena on a two-year deal.
The 54-year-old confirmed he would be leaving Lecce after he claimed the southern outfit did not have any concrete plans to re-establish themselves following relegation to Serie B.
Siena themselves have been in the hunt for a new coach and identified Cosmi as the ideal replacement for Giuseppe Sannino, who left after a single season in charge to work under Maurizio Zamparini at Palermo.
“Serse Cosmi is the new coach of Siena after signing a two-year contract. The official presentation of Cosmi will take place next week,” read a statement on Siena’s official website.
Cosmi joins the club as they remained embroiled in the latest round of match-fixing investigations in Italy, where Siena’s president Massimo Mezzaroma is suspected of wrongdoing while battling for promotion to Serie A two seasons ago.
The supremo and then-coach Antonio Conte have since denied all accusations.
