Valencia midfielder Tino Costa says his team will be keen to beat early-season surprise packet Levante when they visit them on Saturday.

Levante, who finished just two points clear of the relegation zone last season, are third in the La Liga standings after 10 games, just two points behind leaders Real Madrid.

Unai Emery’s Valencia are two points further back in fourth, but could overtake Levante with a win – something Costa is desperate to achieve when the city rivals clash at the Ciutat de Valencia on Saturday.

“It’s a very important match, especially because if we get the three points we’ll overtake them in the table,” Costa said.

“We are where we want to be. If we win tomorrow we’ll be up there and that’s the most important thing. It’s also true that the fact Levante are third makes this match more interesting.”

“We are favourites but it’s true that they are on a very good run and we must give credit to them for being there.”

“They are there for a reason but we’re going as favourites aiming for a win.”
