Marseille booked their place in the Coupe de la Ligue final with a 2-1 win over Nice on Wednesday.
Didier Deschamps’ side knew a meeting with Lyon in the showpiece would await them if they were successful and they made a bright start when Loic Remy opened the scoring after 16 minutes at the Stade Velodrome.
Nice hit back on the stroke of half-time when Tunisian Anthony Mounier netted for the visitors.
Brazilian Brandao restored Marseille’s lead just 12 minutes into the second half, but their task was made harder when Mathieu Valbuena was given a second yellow card after 64 minutes.
Nice could not make the most of their numerical advantage though, which only lasted 19 minutes until Ivorian Franck Dja Djedje was sent off for the visitors.
The win extended Marseille’s unbeaten record to 12 matches in all competitions, with 11 of them resulting in victories.
