Courtois nears Chelsea return

Spanish newspaper AS claims that Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

The Belgian initially joined los Colchoneros on a season-long loan from Chelsea, but he was allowed to stay at Vicente Calderon for another season.

Courtois is reportedly eager to remain in Spain for as long as possible, but AS claims Chelsea want him back at the end of the current season.

The final decision will be made in March next year, but everything suggests the Belgian is set for a summer return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea coaching staff are delighted with the player’s showings at Atletico Madrid and they are now convinced he has what it takes to replace Petr Cech in London.

Since joining los Colchoneros in the summer of 2011, Courtois has made 45 La Liga appearances for the club, while his solid showings also helped the club win the coveted Europa League title last term.
