Coyle confident in Bolton

Bolton manager Owen Coyle is confident his team can avoid relegation by winning their final game of the season at Stoke on Sunday.

Coyle’s men have suffered a torrid year with injuries, but have taken 15 points from their last 10 games to give themselves a chance of survival.

Bolton are in 18th place – the final relegation spot – two points adrift of QPR in 17th.

Rangers travel to champions-elect Manchester City and Coyle believes if his side can pick up three points they will escape the drop.

“We just have to go and win a game of football and that’s what it comes down to,” Coyle said.

“It’s not a game in September or October when we’ve got a chance to recover. It’s the final game of the season and a game that I believe if we win will be enough to keep us in the Barclays Premier League.

“The players for their part should be kicking that door down to get out there and play and represent Bolton Wanderers.

“Of course it’s a huge game, a must-win game but surely as players, these are the games you want to play in and want to stand up and be counted. I certainly did and I’m sure this group have got the same mind.”

But Coyle acknowledges his team will not have it easy against Tony Pulis’ Stoke side at the Britannia Stadium.

“(We) recognise Stoke is a tough venue, a fantastic team with an outstanding manager, somebody who I’ve got a lot of time for on a personal level,” he said.

“But equally they’ll be desperate to finish the season on a high at home at the Britannia, their fans are magnificent.

“We’ve sold out our allocation just short of 3000. The fans have been unbelievable for this football club.

“It’s now time to put a smile on their faces come Sunday night and we’re more than capable of doing that.”
