Crystal Palace close in on Meyer

According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace are now in talks to sign Max Meyer. The 22-year-old has been a free agent ever since leaving German side Schalke, and as we look to the upcoming campaign, he’ll likely want to finalise where he ends up playing before the Premier League season gets underway.

Meyer has a very calm technique on the ball and is often able to play both as a defensive midfielder and as a playmaker, which is why many top European clubs have been closely following his progress since he joined Schalke. Whilst Palace may not have been the final destination that many fans had been expecting for him, Meyer will likely be able to thrive in a system that will not only suit his playing abilities but will likely also position him as the focal point.

Crystal Palace will kick off their Premier League campaign against newcomers Fulham.
