Crystal Palace table bid for Lille defender

French media outlet L’Equipe has learned that Premier League side Crystal Palace have launched an assault on Lille full-back Pape Souare.

The Eagles are short of options on the left side of defence and they have expressed their desire to lure the Senegalese to Selhurst Park in the January window.

According to L’Equipe, Palace have submitted an official proposal worth €4.6 million hoping to wrap up the deal in the coming days.

Seeing as Lille are going through financial difficulty at the moment, they are expected to seriously consider the offer and no doubt les Dogues could really use the cash as they continue search for attacking reinforcements.

Pape Souare, 24, joined Lille from Diambars back in 2008, and he finally nailed down a regular starting berth at Grand Stade Lille Metropole last term.

The defender, who made 12 league appearances this season, is currently representing Senegal at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
