Changchun Yatai defeated lowly Shandong Luneng 1-0 at the Development Area Stadium in the Chinese Super League on Tuesday.
Brazilian striker Weldon, who joined Changchun from Romanian outfit CFR Cluj in the off-season, scored the game’s only goal in the 55th minute.
The result ended a run of two successive defeats for Changchun, and left the visitors without a win in their last five league outings.
Changchun host Nicholas Anelka’s Shanghai Shenhua on Saturday, while Shandong travel to seventh-placed Liaoning Whowin.
