Shanghai Shenxin have moved out of the Chinese Super League relegation zone thanks to a 0-0 draw with Liaoning Whowin.
Shenxin went into Friday’s match second bottom on the CSL table, having lost two consecutive games.
But up against Liaoning, Shenxin held on for a scoreless draw at home to grab a crucial point and move out of the relegation zone, although they could drop back if Shandong Luneng and Henan Jianye both avoid defeat this weekend.
Friday’s result would have disappointed Liaoning’s head coach Ma Lin, whose side have claimed just one victory in their past four matches.
Liaoning moved up to seventh on the CSL ladder but could be overtaken by Hangzhou and Tianjin Teda if both clubs win this weekend.
