Porto president Pinto da Costa is convinced that Jose Mourinho will stay on as coach of Real Madrid next season.

Despite Real topping the La Liga standings by 10 points and remaining in the hunt to win the Champions League, various reports have tipped the 48-year-old to depart the Spanish capital in the off-season.

But da Costa is convinced Mourinho will maintain his role at the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.

“Mourinho will continue at Real Madrid next season,” da Costa told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Da Costa also reserved words for fellow ex-coach and current Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas, who has come under fire at Stamford Bridge following his failure to mount a sustainable title challenge in the Premier League.

However, da Costa has claimed the reason behind Villas-Boas’ struggles is due to many of his players remaining in contact with Mourinho, which he feels is impacting adversely on the former Porto man’s chances of success in West London.

“You need time to mould a team, and you cannot do that while there are players, that I have heard, continue to exchange SMS messages with Mourinho, and Abramovich knows this,” da Costa said.
