Internacional striker Leandro Damiao has revealed he dreams about playing for Real Madrid, thus adding fuel to speculations linking him with a January move to Europe.
The 23-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best centre forwards in Brazil and it is only a matter of time before he joins a big European clubs.
Internacional have so far resisted temptation to cash in on the talented forward, but it remains to be seen whether a big money offer would change their stance.
While insisting he is not planning a January exit from Porto Alegre, Damiao admits he has a soft spot for Real Madrid.
“Now is not the moment to be thinking of playing in Europe. I just want to continue improving and scoring goals,” he told Brazilian internet provider UOL.
“However, every footballer dreams of playing at a club such as Real Madrid but I’m only 23 and there is plenty of time to take that step forward.
“I have a contract with Porto Alegre and I love it here and don’t feel the need to move away right now.
“Even so, it’s obvious that the day will come when I will leave Brazil to go and play in Europe.”
Leandro Damiao has largely impressed since making his debut for Internacional, scoring 60 goals in 104 league games.
The striker was in excellent form during the Summer Olympics, netting 6 times in just 5 appearances for Brazil Under-23 side.
