David Beckham sparked a brawl after receiving a vicious tackle during the LA Galaxy vs. FC Dallas game last Sunday.
FC Dallas’ Adrian Serioux made a brutal, two-footed tackle on LA Galaxy’s Beckham, taking him out at the ankles and sending him flying. The FC Dallas player then stepped right over Beckham and whispered something in his ear. According to the LA Times, he said, “Welcome, baby, welcome.”
That was apparently enough for Beckham to lose his cool. He jumped up and shoved Serioux, who shoved back. Beckham’s teammates, Landon Donovan and Chris Klein, managed to calm the fuming Galaxy midfielder down, who in the end got his revenge. Serioux was given a red card and as he was leaving the field Beckham blew him a few kisses and gave him a not-so-nice farewell wave.
After the game, which ended with a 5-1 win for LA Galaxy, Beckham complained about Serioux’s brutal tackle. “It was a terrible tackle. I could have broken my leg.”
It was an ankle injury that forced Beckham to miss seven games last year. That injury occurred while he played for England on June 6, 2007.
