David Silva is on the verge of signing a new contract with Manchester City, according to the Mail Online.

The thirty-one year old has been in talks with the club officials over a new deal since the summer with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season.

However he looks likely to extend his stay by a further year in a move that could also see his wages increase to £150k-per-week.

Silva moved to the Etihad Stadium from Valencia in the summer of 2010 and has since racked up three hundred and fifteen appearances in all competitions, scoring fifty-one goals while he has won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup in that time.

He won his one hundred and sixteenth caps for Spain as they beat Albania 3-0 on Friday evening having been part of the squads that won the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championships in 2008 and 2010.
