Valencia striker David Villa came off injured after only 16 minutes of his side’s Copa del Rey match with Sevilla on Wednesday.
Villa put Valencia in the lead after six minutes but soon began experiencing muscular problems and requested to be substituted. Whether the forward will be fit to play against Mallorca on Sunday remains to be seen.
Valencia won the first-leg clash 3-2 with the other two goals scored by Ruben Baraja and Juan Mata. Luis Fabiano and Adriano scored for Sevilla.
In Wednesday’s other Copa match, FC Barcelona failed to score against local rivals Espanyol, 0-0.
