Swansea City full-back Ben Davies was delighted after scoring his first goal for the club in a 3-1 win over Stoke City on Saturday.

The 19-year-old opened the scoring at the Liberty Stadium, with two further goals from Jonathan de Guzman making the result safe for Michael Laudrup’s side.

And the Welsh defender, who is now the club’s youngest-ever Premier League goalscorer, has revealed that Swansea assistant manager Erik Larsen tipped him off about how to threaten in the final third.

He told the club’s official website: “At half-time, Erik Larsen told me to make that run inside and said that if I kept doing that, I’ll get in a good position. In fairness, he was spot and he was the first one to tell me that after the game.

“It was a great feeling. Once I got in that position I wanted to make sure my shot was on target and to see it go in was an unbelievable moment.

“All the boys congratulated me after the game and I think they were all pleased to see me get a goal.”
