Davies hails ´great´ debut season

Swansea defender Ben Davies feels his debut season for the club has been a major success.

Davies, who was thrust into first-team action by Neil Taylor’s broken ankle early in the campaign, made 44 appearances for the club over the season while he also lifted the League Cup and received his first international call-up.
The Welshman now has five caps to his name and says the season’s successes have not yet sunk in.
“It’s been a great season,” he told the club’s official website.
“Over the next few weeks we’ll look back and realise we’ve had a really special season.”
However, Davies is in no mood to rest on his laurels and wants both the club and himself to keep improving after Michael Laudrup’s men finished ninth this season.
He added: “We have to be happy with all that we’ve achieved.
“I feel very proud when I look back on the last season, but I have to look forward now. I’ve got to keep doing what I’m doing and become a better player.”
With Taylor now back in action, Davies feels there will be a good level of competition between the pair for the left-back berth next season.
“It’s going to be a real competition between the two of us. It’s something the two of us are really looking forward to,” he said.
“It will force the two of us to play at our best every week. It’s a good thing that we’re competing on an international level as well.”
