(GSM) – On Saturday, Kevin Davies and Bolton Wanderers drew against Fulham (0-0). The Bolton captain managed to score against Fulham, but referee Mark Clattenburg cancelled the goal.
Davies claims the official denied him a legitimate goal because of “something personal”.
“When I saw who was the referee I didn’t expect to get anything off him. Over the years I have never got much from him,” stated a clearly frustrated Davies.
The 32-year-old striker has been booked by Clattenburg four times this season alone and Davies feels the referee shows a bias against the Bolton forward.
“I have always felt there is something personal there,” said Davies. “At least I didn’t get a booking. That was the only good thing about it.”
Davies thought he had headed a late winner against Fulham at the Reebok Stadium, only for Clattenburg to disallow his effort for a push on Brede Hangeland.
TV replays showed minimal contact between the pair.
“It was a clear goal for me,” said Davies. “Having watched it again, the referee said I put two hands in his back – but I can’t see it.
“I think he (Hangeland) got under the ball and I just outjumped him.
“His reaction – he hit the floor and he knew it was a fair goal.”
