De Jong linked with Bundesliga return

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport has suggested that AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong may be returning to German Bundesliga in the near future.

The Dutch footballer only recently signed a new deal until June 2018 at San Siro, but he has struggled for playing time this season.

De Jong only made four Serie A appearances this term and he clearly cannot be happy with the current status in the squad.

According to Tuttosport, Werder Bremen are prepared to offer the 30-year-old an escape route from San Siro as they could really use an experienced footballer like him in the centre of the park.

The Weserstadion outfit chief Thomas Eichin has refused to comment on the speculation, but it looks as though the Bundesliga side are keen.

Nigel de Jong has spent last three and a half years with AC Milan, making 78 league outings for the Rossoneri and scoring 6 goals in total.
