Roma president James Pallotta has hinted that midfielder Daniele De Rossi could be sold.
The Italy international was the subject of strong interest from Premier League outfit Manchester City in January before rejecting their advances in order to remain with his hometown club.
However, Pallotta has now stated that the 29-year-old, who made 25 Serie A appearances last term, could yet depart the Stadio Olimpico.
“Will he remain? We will see. All players are always on the market. The same goes for my (basketball team) Boston Celtics,” he said.
Pallotta also expressed his desire to extend the contract of club captain Francesco Totti, as he enters his 22nd season at Roma.
He added: “Totti will always be part of Rome. Will definitely play another year or two. It’s something that we need to understand directly with him,
“I do not know if he wants to play up to 40 years. He will definitely want to play again, but I do not know if up to 40 years. Then you’ll begin to wonder if he will play up to 50.”
