Italy fullback Mattia De Sciglio has described how difficult Dani Alves was to handle in the 2-2 friendly draw with Brazil on Thursday.
AC Milan’s De Sciglio struggled to contain the Barcelona star at times in Geneva and the 20-year-old was arguably at fault for both of Brazil’s first-half goals.
However, Italy orchestrated an impressive comeback in the second half thanks to goals from Daniele De Rossi and Mario Balotelli.
“I think we did well in defence tonight,” De Sciglio told RAI.
“I tried to stay close to my peak and attack a little when I had the chance.
“It was difficult because Dani Alves is a great champion who has done some fantastic things over the years.
“This squad is a wonderful group. I was very well received by everyone.
“The coach (Cesare Prandelli) has given me a lot of information this week, and all the players have helped me be comfortable.
“We have shown tonight that we are a great team.”
The Italy squad now travel to Malta for a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
