La Repubblica is reporting that Stefan de Vrij has yet to agree a new contract with his current employers Lazio.
The Dutch centre-back is ready to sign a one-year extension despite the fact that he would be able to negotiate a Bosman deal from 1st January, but only if the Biancocelesti include a reasonable release clause.
And while Lazio want a €45 million clause included, De Vrij’s agents are so far not willing to go above €25 million.
Whatever happens, chances are that the Netherlands international will leave either in January or in the summer, but if the Biancocelesti want to secure a good deal they will probably have to agree to the demands of the player’s representatives.
Stefan de Vrij, 25, is widely regarded as one of Serie A’s leading centre-backs and there has been a heavy interest in his services from top clubs.
