(GSM0 – Guti’s brilliant backheel against Deportivo la Coruna has earned him a lot of praise in Spain. Several media are calling for Guti’s return in the national squad. Vicente del Bosque told Radio Marca that he hasn’t forgotten the Real Madrid midfielder.
Guti played an outstanding match against Depor (1-3 win) and stole the show just before the break. His beautiful backheel set up Karim Benzema’s first goal and Real’s second.
The Spanish media labelled Guti’s backeel as brilliant. Del Bosque was also impressed but refused to jump to conclusions.
“Guti played well at the Riazor.”
“He has good technical characteristics, and good vision. He is also strong physically.
“If we picked a squad every week, he would be in the last one.”
Spain’s assistant coachToni Grande also praised Guti. He told Marca that “it is in no way impossible that Guti would be in the squad for South Africa.”
He also added : “We are talking of a player who I have known very well since he was a kid. We will not close the door to anyone, especially a player with his characteristics.”
