Spain coach Vincente Del Bosque cannot split Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo for quality.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Clasico between Spain’s two most successful sides, Del Bosque said La Liga is fortunate to have such big world stars playing in the championship.

“I cannot decide (between Messi and Ronaldo). Both are very good and we are lucky to have them here with us,” he explained at an award ceremony.

“We have always been cautious ahead of the Clasicos. Madrid and Barcelona have experienced moments that were not pleasant.

“I hope the players put in good performances which will help to avoid problems.”

The former Real Madrid coach also commented on Spain’s recent successes, admitting that he was lucky to be blessed with such a talented generation of players at his disposal.

“We received a large inheritance of good young players. It was palpable that there was a large group that could win things, but in football it’s hard to repeat wins.”
