Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero was happy with their win against Zenit St Petersburg, but insists it is too early to talk about reaching the Champions League final

Del Piero scored a wonderful free kick goal and won the match for the Bianconeri.

Del Piero told Rai after the game: “It’s a great victory.

“I am satisfied and this win is great and it was against a very good side who were excellent on the pitch.

“It was very important to win here tonight against a side who are in full swing in terms of their season.

“The final? Let’s not run too much as we are only just making our first steps.”

Juventus coach Claudio Ranier was also happy after their win.

Ranieri told Sky Italia: “We won against a very awkward side.

“I liked Del Piero’s goal and the victory. It was not easy at all as we played a team in good form who are way ahead of us in terms of fitness.

“Compliments to Zenit, they are a good team with quality and they put us in difficulty with five midfielders and three attackers but we did well to make it tough for them.

“We knew about Zenit’s strengths, they didn’t win the UEFA Cup or beat Manchester United just like that. Our group is complicated and it was important to win.”
