Dembele happy at Fulham – for now

Fulham striker Moussa Dembele admits he is looking to play for one of the top five clubs in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old moved to Craven Cottage just under two years ago from the Eredivisie and has seen his reputation rise after a host of impressive performances, where he has been the creative influence for a lot of Fulham’s goals.

The Belgium international was linked with a move to White Hart Lane in January but nothing came of it as Harry Redknapp plumped for Louis Saha instead.

However, the former AZ Alkmaar player does not want to leave just yet as he believes Martin Jol’s side are good enough to move up the table and challenge for the European places.

Speaking before Fulham’s 5-0 win over Wolves on Sunday, Dembele said: “I’m not concerned about losing time here, but it’s clear that I’d like to play at a higher level.”

“Spurs were interested but I can’t talk about other clubs. I’m ambitious and would like to play for a club in the top five.”

“It’s hard to say what is stopping Fulham from progressing. We have good players and I feel we’re better than all the clubs except for the Big Four, and Manchester City.”

“But each season we change our coach which makes it difficult.”
