Denmark 3/4 to beat the Republic of Ireland in Saturday’s World Cup playoff

Competition: World Cup playoff

Market: Denmark to beat the Republic of Ireland

Odds: 3/4 @ Bet365

The international break is back this week with a number of very interesting games to come. While many are disappointed to see their club sides not in action, the World Cup playoffs bring a huge level of excitement, with each team knowing how important the next two games will be. With this in mind, Denmark host the Republic of Ireland in the first leg of their playoff.

Denmark’s qualifying campaign was always going to be a tough one as they battled Poland for the top spot in the group. Poland eventually finished top with 25 points while Denmark had to settle for second place with 20 points, six wins, two draws and two defeats is a respectable record, while they scored 20 times and conceded just eight goals, showing they are a very well balanced side. The Danes will know the importance of starting strongly in the first game as they cannot afford to have to travel to Ireland looking to save the tie.

The Republic of Ireland managed to qualify in second from what turned out to be quite a tough group. Serbia finished top with 21 points, just two ahead of Ireland. For the Irish, their final game against Wales was a winner takes all match that they won in Cardiff. They will now want to take that momentum forward and use it to down the Danish over two legs. However, with home advantage, we are backing Denmark, and Bet365 have given them odds of 3/4 to win.
