The 2017-18 Danish SuperLiga season gets underway on July 14 with FC Copenhagen the team to beat once again.

Copenhagen have won the league and cup double for the last two years and Stale Solbakken’s side are big favourites for more success next term.

FC Midtjylland and Brondby are likely to lead the bid to topple Copenhagen and LeoVegas Sport has all the odds ahead of the new season.

Copenhagen lost just twice in the league last time around as they cruised to the title by a 22 point margin to Brondby, with Lyngby four points further behind.

Solbakken will be without Andreas Cornelius following the forward’s move to Serie A side Atalanta, but top scorer Federico Santander has remained with the club and will be out for more next season.

Pieros Sotiriou has been signed as Cornelius’ replacement from APOEL Nicosia having scored 26 goals in all competitions for the Cypriot team last year.

Defender Michael Luftner has also joined the club from Czech side Slavia Prague, while full-back Pierre Bengtsson has completed a move from the Bundesliga’s FSV Mainz 05.

Bengtsson replaces Ludwig Augustinsson who has been transferred to Werder Bremen in Germany.

Copenhagen could be in the market for more defensive recruits should Mathias Jorgensen complete his expected move to Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town.

The reigning champions kick-off their campaign on Saturday July 15 against Aalborg BK.

FC Midtjylland have had a busy summer in the transfer market as they bid to challenge Copenhagen’s dominance.

Experienced goalie Jesper Hansen has joined the club from Lyngby BK, while winger Gustav Wikheim has switched from Belgian side KAA Gent.

Promising striker Alexander Sorloth has moved from Dutch side FC Groningen, and attacking midfielder Bozhidar Kraev has also been added from Bulgarian outfit Levski Sofia.

Brondby’s hopes of a first title since 2005 rest firmly on the shoulders of Finnish striker Teemu Pukki.

The 27-year-old scored 29 goals last season and he will be expected to improve on that during the new campaign.

Midfielder Hany Mukhtar has joined the club on a permanent basis after a successful season on loan from Benfica, while FSV Mainz 05’s Besar Halimi will hope to make a similar impact during his loan spell in Denmark.

Brondby kick-off their season against FC Midtjylland on Sunday July 16.

The 2016/17 First Division champions Hobro IK, who are back in the top flight after a one year absence, face FC Helsingor in their opening fixture. The game will mark Helsingor’s return to the top division for the first time since the 1936-37 season.
