Barcelona goalkeeper Jose Pinto believes Gerard Deulofeu has a bright future, but warned the youngster to keep his feet on the ground.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the best talents to have come through La Masia in recent years and impressed during his substitute cameo in Barca’s 3-1 Copa del Rey win over Alaves on Wednesday.

“If Deulofeu continues on this path he’ll consolidate himself as good player. He’s already proving his worth,” Pinto told the club’s website.

“However, he needs to have a good head on his shoulders and keep his feet on the ground, like all the players.”

Deulofeu is not the only youngster to have caught the attention of Pinto, as the experienced goalkeeper had nothing but praise for the other reserves who featured against Alaves.

“There is very little you have to say to the youngsters, they come up from the reserve side well trained,” he said.

“They know the philosophy, the game, they are so eager. They’re fantastic players.”
