Di Maria rubbishes exit talk

Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria has rejected speculations that he wanted to leave los Blancos this summer.

The Argentine started being linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu when it became clear that Gareth Bale will be moving to Madrid.

However, he eventually remained at the club and Di Maria is adamant he never really expressed his desire to leave.

“I wanted to stay from the start, because being here is the best possible thing that could have happened to me,” Di Maria told reporters yesterday.

“ It’s true that it was a difficult summer in which a lot was said and many lies were told.”

“I am happy because things are going well for me. I am getting game time and I am feeling very confident.”

The 25-year-old faces a real battle for the starting berth with summer signing Isco, but he has so far featured in all five La Liga matches this season.

Di Maria started three of those games and even though he is yet to open his account this season, his performances have been pretty solid.

The Argentina international is eager to prove he has what it takes to nail down a regular starting berth, although Isco appears to have a small advantage at the moment.
