Lorient have clinched the signing of Sadio Diallo on a season-long loan deal from Rennes.

The Guinea international was formerly at Bastia before helping Rennes finish 13th in Ligue 1 last season.

However, the 22-year-old was deemed unlikely to feature regularly under Philippe Montanier this season and will now ply his trade at the Stade du Moustoir.

Diallo told Lorient’s official website: “I am very happy to be here today at FC Lorient. I want to bounce back here with (manager) Christian Gourcuff.

“I chose Lorient since it is a very good club that plays very good football and that suits me.

“I hope to repeat a season like I did at Bastia. I’m here to play and grow.”

Diallo has scored seven goals in 19 appearances for his country, and Lorient boss Gourcuff believes a spell at his club can get the best out of him.

“We are convinced that this is a great player and I hope he will find a favourable environment here to flourish, and bring us all his technical qualities,” he said.
