Domenico Criscito set for Italy return

Zenit defender Domenico Criscito could be returning to Italian Serie A in the winter, according to Izvestia.

The 28-year-old is now in his fifth season in Russian Premier League and he wants to return to his native country at the earliest opportunity.

With the Euro 2016 on the cards, Criscito wants to join a Serie A side in January and attempt to play himself back into the first team plans of Italy coach Antonio Conte.

Izvestia has learned that his representatives are already negotiating with a number of Italian sides that are keen on the experienced full-back.

Criscito missed out on a summer move to Inter Milan as the two clubs were unable to agree on a transfer fee, but he hopes Zenit will not stand in his way this time out.

The left-sided defender has 22 Italy caps to his name, but he last played for the Azzurri back in March 2014.
