Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan has compared his team with the San Jose team that won the MLS Cup Final in 2001.
Donovan then played for the Earthquakes and scored a goal in their 2-1 win over the Galaxy.
“It probably has the biggest resemblance to the first year I won,” said Donovan. “We had a new coach and a bunch of new players and we had a mentality that we were sick of losing.
“Once we got that taste for success the momentum carried all the way through, and that’s how this year is going.”
Los Angeles Galaxy will face Real Salt Lake in the MLS Cup Final on Sunday at Qwest Field.
